I bought this book for my two boys because my wife’s family are Louisiana natives. The story, characters, and illustrations are top-notch, truly captivating their attention and immersing them in the Cajun spirit! In an age where digital entertainment dominates, it’s challenging to find books that hold kids’ interest. This book did just that; they’ve asked to read it multiple times, which is a rarity.The characters beautifully capture different aspects of Louisiana culture, making it a delightful and educational read. The resilience and spirit of the South, especially evident after a hurricane, are subtly woven into the narrative, offering a powerful message of hope and community strength. After reading it the other day, both my boys even asked my wife to make her gumbo! It’s heartwarming to see how much they love this book.This book is prefect for my friends with kids and I highly recommend it. I wish there were more books that tie in cultural elements as seamlessly as this one does.Customer Review

We are reading it and loving every second of the magical poetry and beautiful art!!!!!!!! *much love and hearts!!*It’s such a positive experience!! *4 thumbs up!!* Despite the challenges that the characters face, it reminds that it is the magical journey that is a major part of the experience (not always just the ending reward).For children and adults alike.. it renews HOPE for all ages! As a native New Orleanian, this book rings true. The art is world-class, the story is compelling, and I am proud that our culture produces such characters and environmental settings. Mr. Ghergich has created an instant children’s classic that will be revered for generations to come. I plan to buy more copies for my grandchildren, nieces & young family friends.
